Tired of building your megabase under a flat, empty sky? Event Horizon turns your GregTech: New Horizons Personal Dimension into a scene straight out of Interstellar and Project Hail Mary: a living, breathing deep-space sky that moves while you build.
✨ What you get
🕳️ Gargantua. A huge, ray-traced black hole with a real lensed accretion disk. You see the front of the disk, the glowing halo bent over the top, and the thin ring underneath, the way light behaves around a real black hole. The disk spins live, with the inner edge whipping round every 10 seconds, and stars smear into arcs around it.
🌈 Cosmic aurora. Folded curtains of light ripple across the sky with glowing pulses travelling along them. Every minute they shift to a new palette: classic green, teal and pink, magenta and blue, a gold and red “solar storm”, or icy blue.
☁️ Living nebulae. Vivid nebula clouds in teal, magenta, gold and violet slowly drift, swirl and breathe.
🪐 A ringed gas giant with its own moon, hanging over the northern horizon.
⭐ Tau Ceti and the Petrova line. A glittering star with an eerie infrared arc pulsing towards the planet Adrian, as in Project Hail Mary.
🛰️ A ring station. An Endurance-style spinning ring crosses the sky every few minutes, with blinking navigation lights.
🌠 Shooting stars, twinkling stars and the Milky Way. Space wraps all the way around, so looking down off your island’s edge is just as stunning.
🎯 It only applies where you want it. It only activates in the Personal Dimension you choose. Your overworld, the Nether, Galacticraft planets and everything else look exactly as before.
⚙️ Requirements GregTech: New Horizons 2.9.x (Angelica with shaders enabled) Personal Dimension (included in GTNH) A GPU comfortable running Performance Shaders
📥 Installation
Install the shader pack. Drop the .zip into .minecraft/shaderpacks/, then go to Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs and select it. Create your Personal Dimension using the portal as normal. Pick any sky colour for now. Close the game (or stop your server), then open saves//PERSONAL_DIM_/personalspace_metadata.cfg. On a server it’s in the server’s world folder. In the visual { } section, set these three lines and leave everything else alone: B:cloudsEnabled=true I:daylightCycle=0 I:skyColor=66051 Launch, fly into your PDIM and look up. 🌌
Why the cfg edit? The sky colour 66051 (RGB 1, 2, 3) is the “switch” that tells the shader this dimension gets the space sky. The portal’s colour slider can’t set it exactly, so edit the file. This also means you can enable it in any world, or several PDIMs, without affecting anything else.
🎛️ Customising
Open shaders/lib/misc/pdimSky.glsl inside the zip; all the settings are at the top:
Setting Does Default PDIM_SKY_I Overall sky brightness 6.0 PDIM_ANIM_SPEED Speed of all animation (0 = freeze) 1.0 PDIM_DISK_ORBIT Seconds per spin of the black hole disk 10 PDIM_AURORA_I Aurora brightness (0 = off) 1.0 PDIM_AURORA_COLOUR_TIME Seconds between aurora colour changes 60 PDIM_NEBULA_MOTION Nebula drift (0 = still) 1.0 PDIM_METEORS Shooting star frequency (0 = off) 1.0 PDIM_SHIP_ORBIT Seconds for the station to circle the sky 360 PDIM_PETROVA_I Petrova line brightness (0 = off) 1.0
