[LDARS Backstory]
Around 100 years ago, 1,000 people were stranded on an archipelago in the South Pacific after a storm. For 8 days, they fought for their survival. During those 8 days, cities, civilizations, alliances, and even rivalries formed. And it was precisely these rivalries that ultimately led to the downfall of all the survivors of the disaster. A fanatical group of storm survivors called the “School of Light” managed to build an atomic bomb during their time on the archipelago. In their attempt to create a “tabula rasa”, they wiped out every remaining life on the three islands. In the end, the bomb that destroyed the archipelago was not the last to be detonated. A nuclear war between several nations plunged nearly half the world into a nuclear winter. For most people, that was the end. For the unlucky few who managed to take refuge in bunker complexes, at least 100 years of an uninhabitable Earth lay ahead.
Burning questions like how the world has changed over these 100 years, what awaits the survivors, and whether the bunkers should even be left at all: players must uncover the answers for themselves in the second season of LAND OF THE RISING RED SUN.
[Mod Pack]
LDARS: GROUND ZERO is planned as both a role-playing and a community event. Accordingly, in addition to quality-of-life mods, this modpack primarily includes two categories of mods: immersion and performance.
Performance Mods
Since we want to keep the technical barriers to participating in LDARS: Ground Zero as low as possible, we take great care to get the most out of the participants’ PCs. The aim of this Modpack is to enable users to experience the visual-enhancements, listed under "Immersion" below, without high-end hardware.
Accordingly, we’ve compiled a variety of performance mods that are designed to lower the ressource uptake of Minecraft through features such as entity culling, dynamic FPS, and reduced RAM usage.
These include, among others:
Immersion
As a designated role-playing community event, Minecraft presents a unique challenge: the game world follows its own logic. To still offer participants the most immersive experience possible, we’ve incorporated a wide variety of immersion-enhancing mods into this modpack. Additions such as insects, birds, an increased render distance, lighting and explosion effects, shaders, and ambient sounds are designed to make diving into the world of LDARS as easy as possible.
These include, among others:
- Cool Rain
- Cosy Critters & Creepy Crawlies
- Explosive Enhanced
- Particle Rain
- A selection of shaders (both performance-friendly and resource-intensive)
- Simple Voice Chat
- Wakes
Quality of Life
As a community role-playing event, we welcome both new Minecraft players and veterans. In consultation with the community, we have selected QoL mods that not only make it easier for new players to get started with Minecraft’s complex game mechanics, but also allow veterans to focus on the role-playing aspect.
These include, among others:
[Default Settings]
- Flashback records by default
- Flashback records SVC by default
- While playing on the LDARS: GROUND ZERO Server, the Skill-Menu can be accessed via 'P'
- While playing on the LDARS: GROUND ZERO Server, /sit, /bellyflop and /lay are bound to the arrow keys
- The Complementary Reimagined Shader with Euphoria Patches is active by default and can be disabled via 'K' or changed via 'O'
[Special Thanks]
The LDARS Team wants to thank all the original creators of the aforementioned mods for providing their creations, helping us to bring an unique Minecraft experience to life. As a project from the community for the community, we value community-based modding very highly, and are thankful to create projects such as LDARS with the help of all the mod-makers.
