The Nova Matrix: New Beginnings (NeoForge 1.21.1)
New Beginnings is the second entry in The Nova Matrix series — a semi-hardcore, server-first modpack built around long-term progression, meaningful infrastructure, and a world that actually feels alive.
This is not a “rush tech and beat the pack” experience.
It’s designed for persistent multiplayer worlds, player economies, industrial expansion, and late-game systems that reward planning instead of shortcuts.
🌍 A World Worth Living In
You spawn into an Overworld with real character:
- Oh The Biomes We’ve Gone + Oh The Trees You’ll Grow for terrain/biome variety that stays interesting long-term
- ChoiceTheorem’s Overhauled Village for villages that actually feel worth finding
- Towns and Towers + When Dungeons Arise for structures, landmarks, and “oh no” moments
- Small Ships for early travel and ocean exploration that isn’t just swimming for 3 hours
- Better atmosphere and polish that makes the world feel present
- Dangerous nights that stay relevant beyond day one
Exploration matters. Travel matters. Builds feel connected instead of disposable.
⚙️ Technology With Purpose
Progression is structured — not rushed.
- Mekanism for scalable processing, automation, and late-game throughput
- Create for mechanical factories, logistics, and creative infrastructure
- Applied Energistics 2 + Applied Mekanistics for storage/logistics that scale with your base
- Extreme Reactors for serious mid-to-late-game power
- Draconic Evolution as the true endgame escalation
- Electrodynamics / Voltaic + Ballistix for industrial power and optional “why is there a missile silo in your base?” energy
Power generation, fuel, and infrastructure are intentional bottlenecks — not inconveniences to skip.
🚀 Endgame Expansion: Stellaris
Late-game progression expands beyond the Overworld with Stellaris, introducing:
- Orbital platforms and space infrastructure
- Multi-world industrial specialization
- Power-hungry systems that demand planning
- Long-term goals instead of one-and-done exploration
Space isn’t a side activity — it’s an extension of your industrial network.
🖥️ Infrastructure & Control
With CC: Tweaked (plus integrations like Advanced Peripherals), advanced players can build real operator-style systems:
- Monitor reactors and turbines
- Build centralized control rooms with dashboards
- Automate safety systems, alerts, and fail-safes
- Manage large-scale power networks like a real facility
The pack rewards players who think like operators — not button-pressers.
🏗️ Built for Servers First
New Beginnings is designed around multiplayer longevity:
- Open Parties and Claims (+ PvP support) for clean teams + claiming
- LuckPerms for proper ranks/permissions (server-grade, not duct-tape)
- Simple Quests for structured goals without forcing a single “correct” path
- Player-driven economy support via Money and Sign Shops
- PvP is optional, not forced
- Balanced to remain challenging but fair
- Tuned to stay playable as worlds and bases grow
This is a pack meant to run for months — not reset every weekend.
🧰 Quality-of-Life & Performance
A long-term world needs to stay smooth. The pack includes QoL and performance tooling so it stays playable as your world scales:
- Iris + Sodium (shader-ready)
- ModernFix, FerriteCore, ImmediatelyFast, Entity Culling, and other optimizations
- JEI + Jade for crafting clarity and block/tooltips
- Xaero’s Minimap + World Map for navigation and coordination
- Waystones for sane travel
- Sophisticated Backpacks / Storage for storage that doesn’t hate you
✅ Who This Pack Is For
- Players who enjoy automation, infrastructure, and planning
- Servers that want long-term progression and a world that lasts
- Builders who want their creations to matter and connect into larger systems
- Communities that value economy, cooperation, and shared projects
Not for:
- Speedrunners
- “Creative-with-extra-steps” gameplay
- One-and-done worlds
📌 Version Philosophy
Release 1.2 is focused on a stable, feature-complete core experience for Modrinth.
Future updates will prioritize:
- Balance adjustments
- Server tuning
- Performance/QoL improvements
- Content polish (not constant progression resets)
The goal is world stability: your saves should survive updates without feeling like a moving target.
Welcome to New Beginnings. You’re no longer just surviving — you’re building something that lasts.
